May 7, 2008: Cabbie Returns $4M Violin, Film for Billy Graham, Euthanasia, Pope Goes Digital

May 7th, 2008 · 1 Comment

A cab driver finds a several hundred year-old violin, a film of Bill Graham’s life is being made and is set for release in the Fall of 2008, Dutch doctors are clouded by euthanasia decisions, and the Pope is taking technology in hand for World Youth Day. Let’s get to the links…

A New Jersey man discovered a 1723 Antonio Stradivari “Ex-Keisewetter” violin valued at $4 million in his cab. The violin was actually on loan, so the man who left it behind had to feel even worse about its loss. However, the bad feeling didn’t last too long. The cabbie returned the violin to a very thankful man. A man who has some musical plans of thanks in store that you may wish to read about.

A film is in the works for the life of Billy Graham. An actor, Armie Hammer, who will play the part of the evangelical leader was quoted as saying,

“They’ve never made a movie about this guy, and beyond any sort of spiritual reasons or anything like that, he is really an iconic figure of the 20th century.”

Check out the film story from the Christian Post Reporter entitled Film on Billy Graham’s Life in Production.

Dutch doctors face a difficult dilemma with euthanasia, where it’s legal to end a person’s life. According to statistics, Dutch euthanasia cases fell to 1.7 percent all deaths in 2005, compared to 2.6 percent in 2001—a year before it became legal. Why the dilemma with the Roman Catholic Church condemnation of the practice? Read Euthanasia – still a dilemma for Dutch doctors.

And for the last story of the day, the Pope is going digital! Pope Benedict will text message thousands of young Catholics on their mobile phones during World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia.

“We wanted to make WYD08 a unique experience by using new ways to connect with today’s tech-savvy youth,” Bishop Anthony Fisher said in a statement on Wednesday.

That’s all for now!

I like the CHRISTIAN news. Too much of the secular news is negative and worldly. I find watching the regular news can be very WORLDLY and takes away much joy.
